Your cartoon, narrated in your voice
To narrate an animated video in your own voice, you upload a short recording of yourself and Motion2D speaks the narration in a voice based on it. Your audience hears you, even on days you don't have time to record.
How it works
Upload a clean recording of yourself speaking, ideally 20 to 60 seconds with no music. When you make a video, the narration is spoken first and then converted to the tone of your voice, so it sounds like you rather than a stock narrator.
The sample is stored with that one video, used only for it, and never used to train anything else.
- A short sample is enough
- Works across supported languages
- Your sample is deleted when you delete the video
Consent comes first
Voice cloning is powerful, so we ask you to confirm that the recording is your own voice, or that you have the speaker's permission, before every upload. Using someone's voice without consent can be illegal and harmful, and it breaks our terms.
Example: a weekly channel without weekly recording
A teacher records 40 seconds of herself reading a paragraph in a quiet room, phone held about a hand's width away. Each week she pastes her lesson script, chooses script mode and her voice sample, and gets a 6-minute animated lesson narrated in a voice her students recognise. A 6-minute video uses 8 credits, so she'd need the Pro plan's 24 credits for three lessons a month.
Her scripts stay hers word for word; see script to video.
How to record a good voice sample
The sample is the ceiling: background noise and echo in the recording come through in the result. A few minutes of preparation makes a large difference.
- Record in a small room with soft furnishings, not a bathroom or kitchen
- Hold the phone 15 to 20 cm from your mouth, slightly to the side
- Read naturally, as you would to one person, for 20 to 60 seconds
- No music, no other voices, no fan or air conditioning running
- Save as a common format such as MP3, WAV or M4A
Questions and answers
Can I clone my voice for a video?
Yes. Upload your voice sample when you create a story video and confirm it is your voice.
Can I make a video in another language with my voice?
Yes. Choose the language and the narration is spoken in that language in a voice based on yours. Accents vary.
Can I clone a celebrity's voice?
No. Only use your own voice or one you have clear permission to use.
Will it sound exactly like me?
Close, not identical. It keeps the tone and character of your voice; delivery and accent can differ a little, especially in other languages.
Is my voice sample safe?
It's stored with that video only, used only to narrate it, never used to train models, and deleted when you delete the video.
Can I use a family member's voice?
Only with their clear permission, and you confirm that permission at upload. Never use a voice you don't have the right to use.
